I understand that many Marines balk at the idea of missing a deployment so they can spend 9 months at resident EWS or 2 years at Naval Post Graduate School, doing so appears to make them less competitive. The Command and Staff College is a ten-month program for majors, lieutenant commanders, allied foreign officers, and U.
Bottom line for me is that while I absolutely think it’s a great idea to try and open up opportunities; I don’t feel that the details have been fully worked out nor do I believe we have actually increased the number of opportunities available. We have not broken that out of resident school and made it available to distance students.
